Our Approach
To provide the highest quality clinical psychology service to young people and their families. Ensuring our assessments and interventions improve the quality of young people’s lives to the fullest and most enriched capacity.
Our most common therapeutic approaches include:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy focused on managing problems by changing thoughts and behaviours.
It is suitable for children, teenagers, and adults, and can be adapted for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions like Autism or ADHD.
CBT has been shown to be effective for treating a number of different mental health conditions. This includes, depression, anxiety, sleep problems, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and more.
CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and behaviours are connected. This means that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a negative cycle. CBT helps you change this.
Therapists use CBT to help break down overwhelming problems into areas that can be addressed using strategies. It is a very practical approach focused on changing thoughts and behaviours to improve the way you feel.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative therapy is a talking therapy focused on rewriting life stories to separate individuals from the problems they are experiencing. It focuses on your beliefs, values, and strengths to help improve a sense of purpose.
It can be used alongside CBT and adapted for different age groups. It has been successfully used to help individuals with depression, anxiety, social phobia, difficult relationships and more.
Narrative therapy is based on the idea that we are shaped by our life stories. The therapist is focused on helping you change the beliefs in your life story and rewriting these in a more positive way. This is achieved by supporting you to make sense of your experiences, thoughts, and feelings in a different way.
Systemic Psychotherapy
Systemic therapy is a talking therapy focused on the relationships between groups of people, like families, friends and so on.
Systemic therapy helps you to identify patterns within relationships and the roles members play. This reveals how individuals communicate and behave towards each other and what may be causing problems in relation to this.
Therapists help overcome problems by improving communication styles, sense making patterns of issues in the past and present, and building stronger bonds.
